Refrigeration maintenance should never be about doing the bare minimum. Breakdowns can lead to costly disruption, stock loss and unnecessary pressure on daily operations, which is why preventative maintenance plays such an important role in keeping systems reliable, efficient and performing as they should.
At Coretemp, routine maintenance is about far more than ticking service boxes. Of course, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting components and identifying wear before failures occur are all essential parts of maintaining refrigeration equipment — but thorough maintenance goes beyond the basics.
We believe in taking pride in the systems we look after. That means cleaning and caring for the entire unit, not only the critical internal components hidden behind the panels. From cleaning coils and filters to improving the overall condition of equipment externals, attention to detail matters. Recently, this included replacing damaged condenser louvres that had been left hanging for years before the equipment came under our maintenance contract. Small details perhaps — but they reflect the standard we believe maintenance should be carried out to.
Monitoring system performance is equally important. Temperature inconsistencies, unusual noises and rising energy consumption can all indicate underlying problems developing within the system. Identifying these early helps prevent avoidable failures, reduces downtime and protects long-term system performance.
Refrigeration systems should also operate within their designed capacity. Overloading equipment increases strain on critical components, reducing efficiency and increasing the likelihood of breakdowns over time.
A structured maintenance plan, carried out by qualified engineers, helps ensure systems remain compliant, efficient and fully supported throughout their operational life.
Because good maintenance is not only about keeping equipment running.
It is about standards, presentation and taking pride in the work long after installation is complete.
